My name is Laura, I am 30 years old, I come from Liège, which is certainly the most French of Belgian cities and I have been a consultant at IT Link for almost 4 years!

What is your background?

After obtaining my master's degree in mathematical sciences, I experimented with research for 2 years. Following this experience, I moved into corporate data management and more specifically: business intelligence.

What does the job of BI Consultant consist of?

The goal of BI is to optimize data management in order to help decision making. As a BI consultant, I am required to:

• understand the sector of activity in which the customer operates,
• talk directly to the profession to understand its specific needs,
• model the data so that it can meet this need,
• and finally implement this modeling: from extracting data in the Data Warehouse to creating Data Visualization reports

What do you like the most about your job?

In my opinion, the most fun thing about my job is having to juggle two worlds that are completely different. On the one hand IT and on the other hand the business. For example, in the morning we can have hyper-functional discussions where we guide the customer in order to establish analyses and reports that will bring added value in their management choices. And in the afternoon we may be faced with quite specific technical challenges and have to discuss with Database Administrators.

Your passion in life?

Strictly speaking, I don't have a passion, but I've always enjoyed sport, whether it's playing it or watching it. I am thinking in particular of the basketball that punctuated my weekends for many years and with which I recently vibrated at the Olympics while watching the Belgian Cats.
